Yoga Class Descriptions

 

Beginner Yoga: Also See Yoga 101

Stage 1 Willfull practice, body and breath awareness.  You begin with understanding of breath (Prana). Using the prana to move into and out of Asanas (Poses) easily. You will end with final relaxation, allowing your body and mind to rest.  Leave class with a clear focused mind and body awareness.

 

All Levels Yoga/ Vinyasa Flow:

NEED MOVEMENT IN LIFE? This class is designed for you! A yoga class intended to get you moving.  A moderate flow of asanas combined with prana will tone and strengthen your body from head to toe. Reduce stress, gain flexibility, mobility, & balance.  Leave class with a clear and focused mind and a body that moves with fluidity when you want it to!
 
Yoga Stretch:
GENTLE class for all levels of practice, beginners and experienced practicioners welcome! During this class you will focus on asanas that encourage relaxation and movement while connecting with your breath.  You begin with an inital relaxation to prepeare your body and mind for the class.  The asanas will strengthen and stretch the body, increasing flexablity of your spine.  Modifications and props will be available to you when necessary.  Emphasis is on form and proper prana (breathing).  Learn to focus inward, while opening your heart and mind at the same time.
 
 
Classical Yoga:
 This class is compromised of an initial relaxation and pranayama (breathing excercises), followed by sun salutations, poses an final relaxation.  There are 12 poses that are in the sequence designed to open the chakras, beginning with the crown and proceeding to the root.  Poses are held for a period of time with a focus on the breath, followed by a brief rest so that the full benefit of the pose can be realized by your body.  Althought some of the poses are quite challenging, there are variations and modifications to accommodate all levels of practitioners.  Final relaxation is your opportunity to enjoy quiet and stillness.
 
 
Power Yoga Flow:  Currently NOT Scheduled...if you are interested in this please let us know!
The class flows quickly from pose to pose integrating breath with movement leading you  deeper into a moving meditation practice. Most classes begin with centering and breathwork, then you build heat with various Sun Salutations, continue with a Standing Flow Sequence, and then return close to the floor for a combination of seated forward bends, backbends,  twists and final relaxation.  This is a physically challenging class best for those with some prior yoga experience.
 
Total Pilates Mat:Also see Pilates 101
Find your center and connect wtih your core as you explore Pilates Matwork. Class begins with core fundamentals which train your arms and legs to move freely while the torso remains stable thereby strengthening the abdominals and back and releasing tension in shoulders and hips. You will  move through  basic core exercises designed to lengthen the body as it's strengthened leaving you with long, strong muscles and relief from back and joints pain. Bender Balls and other tools will be used during this practice bringing it beyond the crunch.
 
Zumba:

The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got a Zumba® class!

 
For REAL Beginners learn basic postures, terminology and breathing techniques over the course of 5 weeks. Also, learn modifications of postures and props that may be used with each one.  Yoga 101 will ensure that you always have a safe yoga practice that fits your needs no matter where you are practicing. Pre-Registration is required. Tuition $100 includes 5 Yoga 101 classes and unlimited regularly scheduled  classes throughout the 5 weeks.  No refunds will be given for missed Yoga 101 classes or lack of participation in unlimited classes.  Next Yoga 101 Session begins Sept 14th.
 
Pilates for REAL Beginners! Learn basic floor exercises, terminology and breathing, developed by Joseph Pilates, to strenghthen your core (powerhouse)using your own body's weight as resistance over this 5 week course.  Also, learn modifications of exercises and props that may be used with each one.  Pilates 101 will ensure that you always have a safe pilates practice that fits your needs no matter where you are practicing. Pre-Registration is required. Tuition $100 includes 5 Pilates  101 classes and unlimited regularly scheduled  classes throughout the 5 weeks.  No refunds will be given for missed Pilates  101 classes or lack of participation in unlimited classes.  Next Pilates 101 Session begins Sept 14th.
 
Meditation Mondays (Satsang):

This is a perfect opportunity for us to join energies.  We will meet every Monday to practice pranayama (breathing), meditation, and chanting.  Also, please feel free to bring your favorite inspirational reading to share with the group. This is a *FREE* gathering! No Experience Necessary! Please bring a cushion & blanket for your comfort.
